Rigel Strikes Two 'Stuck' Deals

Rigel Entertainment glued two deals for Stuart Gordon's "Stuck" as the American Film Market began, striking a German-speaking-rights deal with Constantin Films while selling the title to Gulf Films for the Middle East.
Rigel CEO John F.S. Laing, announcing the brace of early AFM deals, said Wednesday that the buzz has been building on the title -- which stars Mena Suvari and Stephen Rea -- since it screened this year at the Toronto International Film Festival.
"We are delighted that Constantin Films will be our partner in Germany -- they have a strong track record releasing films of this genre -- and we are equally thrilled to have signed with Gulf Film for the Middle East territory," Laing said. He told The Hollywood Reporter that a U.S. deal was pending for the title and expects to sign within the next few days.
Rigel Entertainment is repping the title at AFM on the movie inspired by true events. It details the story of a female partygoer who hits a homeless man, drives home with him stuck to the shattered windshield and leaves him to die in her garage after realizing nobody witnessed the crash.

This year at the American Film Market horror films held a strong presence. Though always popular at AFM, this year saw a large range of films in the genre, from high brow to low, A to B, and everything in between. Included was Eden Lake, a film by James Watkins (My Little Eye) about a couple who try to have a romantic weekend in the country, but are attacked by a gang of kids. Also shown at the Market was Stuart Gordon's (ReAnimator) Stuck, a film based on the true story of a woman who hit a man with her car only to leave him in her garage for days to bleed to death. The film stars Mena Suvari and Stephen Rea, and a domestic deal for the release of the film is being worked out with Image Entertainment.

At the AFM the over-the- top display for the new film STUCK, stuck in everyone's mind for sure. The life size car with human body STUCK through the windshield spanned 30' across the fourth floor of the LOWES hotel to promote the film. Director Stuart Gordon delivered the intense, psychologically dark thriller starring Mena Suvari (American Beauty) and Academy Award-nominee Stephen Rea (V for Vendetta). Wow, when I think of STUCK I think of that uneasy feeling I got with "MISERY" (1990 Kathy Bates). This film's suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat. You better just accept the fact that you'll have to gasp OMG throughout the film. The Director, Gordon brings out great performances in both of these two top actors in a realistic bloody "I can't believe it, but it's true" film. Mena Suvari has an incredible range as an actress that she demonstrates as her character progresses in the story. Actor Stephen Rea has one of those great faces that only has to look at you to catch you attention and make wonder what he's thinking about. Together they're a HIT team for this suspense thriller from Rigel Entertainment.
